IMF flags inflation, debt and conflict as global growth risks intensify
|
|
At the IMF’s October 17 IMFC briefing in Bangkok, Chair Mohammed Aljadaan and Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said wars, trade-route disruptions, inflation and high debt are weighing on growth even as the world economy stays resilient. For Bitcoin, the message is that macro and geopolitical shocks are still driving liquidity, energy costs and risk appetite rather than giving markets a clean all-clear.

US spot Bitcoin ETFs extend October bleed with another $82 million outflow
|
|
US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net $82.4 million outflow in the latest October 16 session, taking the week’s total withdrawal to $228.6 million and October month-to-date to negative $617.2 million. The continued redemptions matter because ETF demand has been the main regulated bid supporting Bitcoin through this cycle, and its recent absence leaves the market more exposed to macro shocks.

Bitcoin hash rate reaches five-month high as miner balances tick higher
|
|
Bitcoin’s seven-day average hash rate climbed to 1,031.61 EH/s on October 17, the highest since May 29, while miner holdings rose by 379 BTC over the week. Rising hash power and firmer miner balances suggest network security remains strong and that miners are not yet being forced into broad capitulation selling.

Goldman, Wells and Morgan pitch tokenization as new Wall Street business
|
|
Third-quarter earnings commentary showed Goldman Sachs viewing tokenization as a trading growth lever, Wells Fargo already using tokenized deposits for cross-border payments, and Morgan Stanley expecting advisory demand to rise as assets move faster. The takeaway for Bitcoin markets is that large incumbents are increasingly treating blockchain rails as part of mainstream market plumbing rather than a fringe experiment.

NEW: Fidelity's Head of Global Macro says Bitcoin may be entering a new bull market 👀
"A new 4-year cycle bull market could be underway, based on its power law patterns. There doesn’t seem to be a narrative, but then again, bull markets rarely start with one." 🐂 https://t.co/ZNYJKEvHJT

$BTC has 2 major liquidity clusters right now, and both of them are to the upside.
The first one is around $84,500, and the other one is around $87,500.
If Bitcoin manages a weekly close above $83K this week, these liquidity clusters will get hunted. https://t.co/5Wv1ZVVB7G

🤯 🚨 If Bitcoin bounces off the 50-day moving average, things could get VERY bullish.
Based on Bitcoin’s October performance in 2023 and 2024, we could be setting up for a HUGE rally.
This is the moment of truth for Bitcoin! https://t.co/oqxl9wYxpa

I tracked every major Bitcoin headline since 2018 and checked where price was 90 days later.
The pattern is almost too clean.
In bear markets, bad news worked.
Google banning crypto ads: -20%. The BCH hash war: -37%. Terra collapsing: -23%.
6 out of 7 scary headlines in a bear market ended lower.
In bull markets, the same kind of news did the opposite.
COVID crash: +106%. Binance getting hacked for 7,000 BTC: +102%. CZ stepping down: +45%.
9 out of 10 ended higher.
The headline doesn't decide where price goes.
The trend does.
Now look at 2026.
Stocks crashed in February and dragged BTC to $60K: +29% in 90 days.
Iran strikes and World War 3 fears in March: +12%.
Record ETF outflows in June: +42%.
The last red dot on this chart was the tariff crash in October 2025.
Since then, every piece of bad news has ended higher.
The Clarity Act failing and the first Fed hike since 2023 are next on the list.
So far: +8%.
Save this chart and check back in December.
