Bitcoin rallies as U.S. payroll growth stalls in September
U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by just 29,000 in September while unemployment edged up to 4.2% and average hourly earnings growth slowed to 3.0% year over year. The report weakens the case for another immediate Fed hike and is the biggest macro input for Bitcoin today.

SEC unveils crypto custody proposal for advisers and funds, opening institutional pathways
The SEC proposed a tailored custody framework for registered investment advisers and regulated funds holding crypto assets. The draft would allow self-custody in limited cases, recognize state trust companies as custodians, and open a 60-day comment period.

Spot bitcoin ETFs pull in $2.65 billion for September, demand intact
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs took in $2.65 billion in September, their second-strongest month since October 2025, according to The Block's analysis of SoSoValue data. Flows also started October in positive territory, reinforcing the view that institutional demand has returned.

Bitcoin retakes $86,000 as traders reopen Uptober bets after strong quarter
Bitcoin briefly topped $86,000 early Friday and opened October with roughly 3% gains after a strong September. Holding near the top of its recent range despite high bond yields and a firm dollar points to improving risk appetite entering Q4.

Peter Todd joins MARA to run private Bitcoin transaction pipeline
Bitcoin Core contributor Peter Todd joined the MARA Foundation as lead maintainer of Slipstream, the miner's private transaction-submission service. The move matters because it puts a high-profile protocol voice closer to one of Bitcoin's most important experiments in miner-controlled transaction flow.

SEPTEMBER NONFARM PAYROLLS MISS BADLY:

- Jobs added were +29K vs +84K expected

- Unemployment rate increases to 4.2% vs 4.1% expected

The 10-year treasury yield just fell 0.77%, the $SPY is up 0.88%, and $BTC is almost at $87K on this news.

Why are yields falling and risk on assets going up if we are seeing unemployment go up and missing on the expected jobs number?

Well, that means the economy might not be as hot as the Fed thinks and we may not need to hike as aggressively as expected.

Bad news, in the eyes of the macro, might be good news again…

Security Update: We are responding to a security incident affecting part of our infrastructure.

At this time, we have identified no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets.

As a precaution, we are proactively exiting affected validators within our non-custodial staking operations, in coordination with clients, partners and security advisors.

We’ll share further updates as appropriate. https://t.co/0wmhnVFSIL

The sell wall over $BTC has gone.

Buyers took out the $85k wall yesterday, after almost a week of failed tests. The rest of the sell orders seem to have been removed.

With reduced ask liquidity above, this should allow price to move up faster. https://t.co/Aoh5ZuVZiM

This is HUGE.

The SEC has OFFICIALLY proposed new rules for how financial advisers and funds can hold crypto, including through self-custody in some cases.

Here's what the proposal would do:

1. Self-custody
allow crypto to be held in self-custody under certain circumstances

2. State trust companies
let them act as custodians for client and fund crypto

3. Crypto advice
remove barriers that stop advisers from giving crypto-related investment advice

4. Crypto funds
let regulated funds offer a wider range of crypto investment strategies

SEC Chair Paul Atkins says parts of the old custody rules "predate the internet," and that the proposal would give advisers and funds "a compliant pathway where none existed before."

The public will have 60 days to comment once the proposal is published, before any final vote.
