Bitcoin drops after Binance $6.3 billion security incident, withdrawals halted
|
|
Binance said a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop likely enabled unauthorized withdrawals, with the estimated impact at about $6.3 billion and roughly $3 billion frozen on-chain so far. The exchange temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals, said user losses would be covered by SAFU and company funds, and promised an updated proof-of-reserves after remediation.

Hormuz tanker mine attack revives oil shock risk for global markets
|
|
A tanker in the Strait of Hormuz caught fire after explosives were attached to its hull, while Iranian authorities separately said tankers had hit mines on unauthorized routes. The renewed instability in a critical oil chokepoint keeps upward pressure on energy prices and inflation expectations across global markets.

NYSE Arca moves Bitwise 10 crypto ETF toward generic listing
|
|
The SEC published NYSE Arca’s filing to shift the Bitwise 10 Crypto Index ETF from its bespoke approval order to the exchange’s amended generic Rule 8.201-E standard. The change matters because the newer framework is designed to make digital-commodity ETF listings more standardized and easier to scale.

Polymarket users are getting drained RIGHT NOW 🚨
$2.68M has reportedly been stolen in just an hour, with hundreds of withdrawals going through Polymarket’s own deposit wallet infrastructure.
Here’s what we know so far:
- At 17:05 UTC, a previously empty wallet started receiving funds - By 17:25, it had accumulated $412K - By 17:50, that number had reached $2.02M - At 18:05, the wallet peaked at $2.68M - At 18:10 UTC, suspicious activity was still being recorded
The attacker wallet:
0x3F99139F1C5854bb628c2e576Aaf638e99dFfc18
The wallet reportedly accumulated 28.6 million $POL with funds being converted from users’ deposit balances.
The transactions appear to be using Polymarket’s own Deposit Wallet Factory
Proxy: 0x00000000000Fb5C9ADea0298D729A0CB3823Cc07
The activity also involves Relay’s sponsored transaction infrastructure, with multiple victim wallets directing funds toward the same recipient.
Users are reporting withdrawals they never authorized, and there are suspicions that Polymarket’s frontend may have been compromised.
That has NOT been officially confirmed.
This is particularly concerning because Polymarket already suffered a frontend-related attack in June.
That incident resulted in $2.94M stolen from 11 wallets, with Polymarket subsequently announcing full reimbursements.
If you have funds on Polymarket:
- Avoid signing any new transactions or approvals - Don’t interact with suspicious links or supposed support accounts - Check your wallet activity using a trusted blockchain explorer - Consider moving funds to a separate wallet if you can do so safely through a verified route
Now we need to wait for an official security update before interacting with the platform again
Stay safe guys!!

We've identified & fixed an issue impacting our international platform, Polymarket.com. One of our 3rd party providers was compromised, and we have referred this to relevant law enforcement.
Anyone who has been impacted will be made whole.
Out of an abundance of caution, we have temporarily halted trading & are working to bring the platform back online.

CryptoBilis update
We've been made aware, through responsible disclosure, of a single hardware implant in a Trezor Safe 5 device bought from the reseller CryptoBilis in August 2026.
No CryptoBilis buyer has reported a loss of funds to us.
IMPORTANT: If you bought a Trezor from CryptoBilis from March 2026 onwards, we know this is unsettling. Here’s what to do:
Already using it?
Move your funds to a newly created wallet with a new seed as soon as possible. Do not reuse the old seed in any wallet, hardware or software. If you don’t have another secure hardware wallet available, we recommend temporarily migrating your funds to a software wallet or an exchange you are familiar with.
Not set up yet? Don’t set it up, and never enter your existing wallet backup on it.
We haven’t received the device to confirm this report, but based on the customer’s description, we’re treating it as credible and sharing it now so customers who purchased a Trezor via CryptoBilis can secure their funds as a precaution. Our security team will examine the device as soon as it arrives.
On October 9, 2026, we removed CryptoBilis as a reseller following reports of tampered Ledger devices sold through it. Since then, we have been inspecting Trezor devices that customers bought from CryptoBilis and have found no signs of tampering on any of the four devices we’ve received so far.
NEVER share your wallet backup (recovery phrase) with anyone. Trezor Support will never ask for it. If you are affected by this incident, please keep your CryptoBilis device and contact Support to receive a new Trezor hardware wallet: https://t.co/5EasOVDDQh
We're investigating and will post updates here as soon as we know more. Thank you to the customer who reported this through our responsible disclosure program, and to @SEAL_911 for working alongside our teams on the response. Reports and engagement like this help us protect everyone else.

The Binance hacker might have just pulled off one of the smartest moves I’ve seen in crypto.
First, Tether froze $1.5 billion in USDT.
Then Circle froze another $800 million in USDC.
At that point, it looked like the hacker’s money was trapped.
But apparently, he had already planned for that.
Instead of holding the stolen USDT in a wallet, he allegedly deposited it into Aave and used it as collateral to borrow ETH.
Then he walked away.
That’s where the story gets crazy.
Tether can freeze the USDT sitting in the wallet.
But it can’t freeze the ETH he already borrowed.
So now Aave is left holding frozen collateral, while the hacker is sitting on liquid ETH.
And unless the protocol can recover it somehow, he may not even need to pay the loan back.
Two companies froze billions of dollars in seconds.
But someone who understood how to use DeFi may have found a way around both of them.
Pretty insane when you think about it.
