DOJ targets Iranian oil-linked crypto network that allegedly laundered funds through Binance
Federal prosecutors in Manhattan filed a civil forfeiture complaint seeking about $61 million in cryptocurrency tied to sanctioned Iranian oil sales. The DOJ says two Chinese companies used Binance accounts to launder proceeds to Iran and its proxies, and says linked wallets handled more than $1.5 billion overall.

🚨HUGE: U.S. lawmakers will vote on advancing a bill to create a permanent Strategic Bitcoin Reserve on September 16.

The bipartisan bill would:
• Put the reserve under the U.S. Treasury.

• Require Bitcoin added to the reserve to be held for 20 years without being sold.

• Keep eligible Bitcoin seized and forfeited to the government instead of auctioning it off.

• Use money from selling other forfeited crypto to buy Bitcoin or pay down national debt.

It would turn Trump’s March 2025 executive order into law, potentially reducing future government Bitcoin sales.

Wednesday’s House committee vote is an early step.
