Hormuz tensions intensify after fresh U.S.-Iran maritime strikes jolt oil markets
Iran said on Sept. 6 it struck an unmanned U.S. vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, a claim the Pentagon denied, one day after Washington said it hit three Iranian oil tankers in response to missile fire at Navy ships. The renewed exchange keeps roughly 9 million barrels a day of Hormuz traffic under the market microscope and sustains energy-driven inflation risk for bitcoinโ€™s macro backdrop.

Strong U.S. jobs data revives Fed hike fears and knocks bitcoin lower
Bitcoin slipped back below $80,000 on Sept. 5 as traders digested a stronger-than-expected U.S. payrolls report that lifted the perceived odds of a September Fed hike and pushed yields and the dollar higher. The move reinforced that BTC is still trading as a liquidity-sensitive macro asset, even with institutional ETF demand still positive.

U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs stay in inflow mode despite renewed price pressure
U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs added $174.6 million on Sept. 4, with BlackRockโ€™s IBIT and Fidelityโ€™s FBTC accounting for the full haul, extending the inflow streak to three sessions and taking the total over that stretch to about $1.01 billion. The split between steady fund demand and softer spot prices suggests institutions are still absorbing supply on dips.

Better and Coinbase expand bitcoin-backed mortgages, but collateral terms raise new risks
Better said its Coinbase-powered mortgage product is now generally available and has already pulled in $360 million of pre-applications. Borrowers can use BTC at a 250% collateral ratio to fund a down payment, but Better may rehypothecate the pledged coins and will not release them until the primary mortgage is repaid or refinanced.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Hereโ€™s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

โ€œFor CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,โ€ said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. โ€œComping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROASโ€ฆ and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.โ€

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

๐Ÿ’ฅ Bitcoin is experiencing its strongest buying pressure since the last bear market.

This is a net buying pressure calculated in dollars and cumulated over 365 days. Itโ€™s the difference between spot buy volume and sell volume across major exchanges.

This figure has now surpassed $83 billion, after being negative until March 2026.

This is a sign that demand has clearly improved recently compared to its cumulative annual average.

A clearly positive trend is now emerging.

That said, itโ€™s worth keeping in mind that spot volumes are not the majority of exchange flows, futures still dominate by far.

But itโ€™s becoming increasingly clear that momentum is turning more and more positive.

๐ŸšจHUGE: Anonymous traders have bet over $1 MILLION that crypto's biggest regulatory bill will FAIL, days before its make-or-break vote.

The CLARITY Act faces a Senate vote on September 15, but only to start debate, not to pass.

It needs 60 votes to proceed, yet Republicans hold just 53, so at least 7 Democrats must cross over.

Two anonymous Polymarket whales just bet roughly $1.5 MILLION against it, with passage odds now around 15%, down from 82% in February.

Traders expect the Senate to hold a vote, but they don't expect it to become law.

If it fails, the bill is likely dead until after the midterms.

Bitcoin and gold are increasingly moving together:

The 90-day correlation between Bitcoin and gold prices is up to +0.50, almost matching the all-time high set during the 2020 pandemic.

This figure has more than doubled since the start of the year.

By comparison, following the 2022 bear market recovery, the 90-day correlation rose to +0.30.

The recent surge accelerated following the US Treasury announcement on August 19th that it would at least double its buybacks of long-dated government debt, from $2 billion to $4 billion per operation.

Meanwhile, the 90-day correlation between Bitcoin and the Nasdaq 100 is down to ~0.30, a 1-year low.

Investors are increasingly turning to both gold and Bitcoin as hedges against currency debasement.

๐ŸšจBREAKING: The US Treasury could buy back over $34 BILLION of its own debt in September alone.

Next week alone carries up to $14.5 BILLION in capacity, with the program doubling in size on September 9.

The 30-year yield sits near a 20-year high, with the government now spending over $1 TRILLION a year just on interest.

Treasury Secretary Bessent insists the goal is liquidity, not controlling yields, saying "I have not bought anything yet."

The last time the buyback program expanded, Bitcoin surged 22% in a single week.
